We’re looking for a Community Program Coordinator


The Community Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the development, implementation and evaluation of VSAC’s Project Respect community-based initiatives. This role involves working with existing and new community partners to facilitate dynamic, youth-led sexualized violence social action and prevention education. The Community Program Coordinator will prioritize programming that engages and responds to the diverse realities of youth who experience disproportionate amounts of sexual assault and overlapping forms of violence (colonialism, racism, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, fatphobia, etc.). 

The Community Program Coordinator will provide leadership on and collaborate with community organizations and youth to organize youth-led programming. This programming could be wide-ranging depending on the interests of the youth and the Community Program Coordinator, but could include arts-based, social actions, summer camp, discussions, land-based, and theatre-based programming.

Reports to: Prevention Co-Director

Position Summary: Responsible for coordinating the development, implementation and evaluation of VSAC’s Project Respect community-based initiatives, including the    delivery of youth-based social action projects.

Salary/Benefits: BCGEU Grid level 14, $28.39 per hour, 28 hours per week. Includes a 3 month probationary period. This position requires union membership with the BCGEU, and is pending JJEP approval. This is a term position ending September 30, 2023 with possibility of renewal dependent on grant funding.  

Location: With Covid-19, Prevention staff are currently working remotely. The successful candidate must be available to work in-person once it is safe to do so.

There is the possibility of the Community Program Coordinator to work from the VSAC office. VSAC’s Occupational Health and Safety Committee has a Safety Plan to guide Covid-19 protocols and practices for those employees who wish to work in the office. This plan includes: medical screening (self-assessment), protocols for entering the office, occupancy limits, and transmission reduction.

Hours: Daytime, some evenings and weekends
