Sophie (elle/she/her) has over 20 years of experience in communication, youth outreach, public engagement and mediation, both in Belgium, where she is from, and across Canada. After investigating  conflicts and crimes rooted in harmful patriarchal norms as a journalist, Sophie researched gender-based violence in Conflict Transformation and Gender studies. Trained in  trauma-informed practices, she provides restorative justice and harm reduction services to marginalized populations and survivors of sexualized violence. A mother of teenagers in BC schools, Sophie is passionate about addressing intersections of violence and harassment through anti-oppressive and consent education. She is grateful to be part of the excellent team of staff and youth carrying Project Respect.
